Manager, Global Seafood Markets
Katy Sater is a Manager, Seafood Engagement on the WWF-US Seafood Markets team focused on leading the development and execution of the WWF US global seafood market engagement strategy. Through this work, Katy will work with our multi-national corporate partners and precompetitive collaborations to reach goals for sustainable seafood market transition. Katy will lead strategy engagement and development of precompetitive international market platforms/roundtables with a current primary focus on China, Japan, and Mexico. Katy will also directly manage our seafood work with our partners: Hilton, Sodexo, and Royal Caribbean. Last Katy will support development of key Seafood Markets projects like our development of the business case for sustainable seafood sourcing and our work to build a blended global fishery transition fund (a project led across the finance team, fisheries team, and seafood markets team).
Prior to joining WWF, Katy she served as a Foreign Affairs Officer in the Office of Marine Conservation at the State Department where she led policy efforts to counter illegal fishing and improve governance and traceability of wild caught fisheries and seafood, and she supported engagement with industry under bilateral and multilateral tuna management treaties. Katy has a B.A. in Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment.
