Senior Program Officer, Shipping Policy and Corporate Engagement
Shay Burnett is the Senior Program Officer, Shipping Policy and Corporate Engagement for Ocean Markets on the WWF-US team. Shay leads work on development and execution of shipping policy and shipping private sector engagement matters. Shay also works with the WWF-US Arctic team and the WWF Global Arctic Program to advocate for Arctic shipping policy in regional and international fora.
Prior to joining WWF, Shay worked for Cruise Lines International Association as a Senior Technical Advisor. In this role, Shay worked in maritime environmental policy developing and advocating for policy positions. Shay has experience working at the International Maritime Organization on environmental matters ranging from decarbonization to effluent treatment standards. Shay has a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute and is currently attending the University of Maryland to earn a master’s degree in public administration.
